TOPEKA, KANSAS -  Douglas Vernon Keeling, Jr., 51, Topeka died Saturday, August 10, 1996, at a Topeka hospital.  He was disabled.  He was born October 5, 1944, in Topeka, the son of Douglas and Gwendolyn Hueston Keeling, and spent his life in Topeka.  He was graduated from Highland Park High School.  He had been a cook at Topeka State Hospital and worked in youth services at the Youth Center at Topeka.  He was a custodian at the Menninger Foundation, and worked at the Goodyear Plant.  He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

He was married to Sharon Harrison November 25, 1985 in Topeka.  She survives.  Other survivors include a daughter, Tonya Tate, Topeka; three sons, Linze Tate, of Lawrence, Brian Keeling and Shawn Keeling both of Topeka; a stepdaughter, Anneke Robinson and a stepson, Kristopher Whye, both in Minnesota; his parents, Douglas and Gwendolyn Keeling, Topeka; and three brothers Larry Keeling, Lewis Keeling, and Keith Keeling all of Topeka.  A stepson, Michael Paul Harrison and a sister, Barbar Keeling, preceded him in death.

Services were at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.  Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery.  Memorial contributions were made to Shawnee Meadows Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.
