MESA, ARIZONA - James Ronald Wells (Ron), 73, passed away January 10, 2017 at Mercy Gilbert Hospital in Gilbert, AZ. due to massive heart failure. Ron was born in Kansas City, MO. on February 26, 1943 to James Ralph and Nona A. Wells. He attended Highland Park High School in Topeka, KS, in the class of 1962. Ron met, fell in love, and married Anita Marie Aufleger of Topeka, KS. on December 29, 1962. Ron was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Topeka, KS. for 35 years, retiring in the year 2000. Following his retirement, Ron and Anita moved to Mesa, AZ., where they worked for California Pools and Spas and where Ron continued his hobby of collecting Popeye the Sailor Man memorabilia and adding to Anitas frog collection. They enjoyed their retirement by vacationing on numerous cruises and excursions and enjoying life to the fullest. Ron is survived by their daughters, Ms. Kerrie Sue Muller of Acworth, GA. and Mrs. Debbie Dyan Thompson of Newnan, GA. He was the proud grandfather to 4 grandchildren. Dakota Jazz Muller, 25 of Acworth, GA, Jozie Logan Muller, 18 of Acworth, GA. attending Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw Georgia, Brock Cameron Smith, 26 of Fort Collins, CO. First Lieutenant - USAF, Chanel Jordyn Smith, 22 of Argyle, TX. attending NCTC Community College in Flower Mound, TX. He is also survived by his eldest sister Mrs. Janice Proehl and her husband Carl of Gilbert, AZ. A Celebration of Ron's life was held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery & Funeral Home located at 1562 E. Baseline Road,. Mesa, AZ. 85204.
